Hello and welcome to the forth guide on the Heroes of the Storm Beta. Previously we covered Zeratul, Dark Templar, Sgt. Hammer, Seige Tank, and Valla, Demon Hunter. My name is Lordunderpants and today I will be covering Tyrande The High Priestess of Elune.
Hunter’s Mark: Reveals and increases damage taken by marked target.
Use this trait one the target you plan on taking down first, it makes it so the enemy you place it on takes more damage and disables them from being able to go invisible.
Light of Elune (Q): Heal an allied Hero and self.
A cheap light heal, it doesn’t heal a huge amount but it has a light mana cost and a fairly small cool down allowing you to use this heal often.
Sentinel (W): Send an Owl across the battleground that provides vision. Reveals and damage enemy Heroes it hits.
A scouting tool that can help figure out where the enemy team is at, also provides a small amount of damage and can reveal invisible units.
Lunar Flare (E): Stun and damage enemies in an area.
A skill shot that stuns and damages anyone in an area, can be relatively hard to aim but can be a huge boost in any team fight.
Starfall (R): Tyrande calls down volleys of energy at a location to damage and slow enemies.
Your aoe damage heroic, continuously deals damage to all enemies inside the giant circle.
Shadowstalk (R): All allied Heroes are cloaked, and all enemies are revealed for a short time.
Can be a great engage/disengage, figuring out where the enemy is and being stealthed targeting them or stealthing your team as they run away helping them live.
As always there are no bad talents, customize them to how you enjoy playing your characters, I’ll go over the talents and explain why I choose certain ones in certain situations.
Level 1 Talents
Ranger’s Mark (Trait): Lower the Cooldown of Hunter’s Mark by 8 seconds.
Celestial Attunement (Q): Reduce the Mana cost of Light of Elune by 15.
Pierce (W): Sentinel no longer stops at the first Hero hit, affecting all enemy Heroes along the path.
Seasoned Marksman: For every 6 enemy Minion or Mercenary kills near your Hero, gain 1 Basic Attack damage.
Quite a few good choices here, if we don’t have another support or someone that can heal I generally get Celestial Attunement so I can spam out heals a bit easier. If we do have a healer though I like getting Pierce for the scouting potential, if it hits an enemy it keeps going potentially seeing more things going on. Ranger’s Mark is good if you plan on spamming your passive and Seasoned Marksman is good for just beefing yourself up if you’re around lane a lot more instead of objectives.
Level 4 Talents
Overflowing Light (Q): When you are above 90% Health, the allied heal is increased by 40%.
Empower (W) : When Sentinel impacts, your cooldowns are instantly reduced by 2 seconds.
Protective Shield: Activate to shield an allied Hero from 220 damage for 5 seconds.
Searing Arrows: Activate to increase Basic Attack damage by 40% for 5 seconds. Each attack costs 10 mana.
Healing Ward: Activate to place a ward on the ground that heals allies in an area for 3% of their max Health every second for 10 seconds.
Generally in this tier I get the Healing Ward, the amount of healing it brings to team fights is just too amazing. Overflowing Light has good potential if you’re able to stay in the back, but I play too aggressive to not be taking some sort of damage, while Protective Shield would be a nicer option when you have a healer in your group. Empower can be a nice tool for spamming your scouting tool but doesn’t seem too worth it just like Searing Arrows would be a good boost in damage but it doesn’t seem like it lasts long enough to really make a difference.
Level 7 Talents
Quickening Blessing (Q): If cast on an ally, Light of Elunes also increases their Movement Speed by 25% for 3 seconds.
Shroud (Q): If cast on an ally hero, Light of Elune also Cloaks them for 5 seconds.
Trueshot Aura: You passively grant 10% Basic Attack damage and Attack Speed to nearby allies.
Battle Momentum: Basic Attacks reduce Ability cooldowns by 0.5 seconds.
Calldown: MULE: Actiave to calldown a Mule that repairs Structures, one at a time, near the target point for 60 seconds, healing for 100 Health every 1 second. Grants 1 ammo every 5 seconds.
Trueshot Aura all the way, when you’re in your team fights and your whole team gets a boost for 10% Basic attack damage and Attack Speed it just helps out way too much, Calldown: MULE is also a nice feature for repairing your base and giving you more time to come back. Quickening Blessing and Shroud can be good for helping people get away and Battle Momentum can help you spam your abilities, but with mana costs you can only spam them so much.
Level 10 Talents
This is where you choose your Heroic Ability Starfall or Shadowstalk.
Level 13 Talents
Lunar Blaze (E): Increases the range of Lunar Flare by 50% and impact area by 33%.
Shrink Ray: Activate to reduce an enemy Hero’s damage by 50% and Movement Speed by 50% for 4 seconds.
Purging Mark (Trait): Hunter’s Mark can be cast on Structures. All Hero Basic Attacks on Marked targets drain 1 Ammo.
Sprint: Activate to gain 75% Movement Speed for 3 seconds.
Rewind: Activate to reset the cooldowns of your Basic Abilities.
I’m too much of a fan of Lunar Flare to not get Lunar Blaze here, the size and range difference is a huge improvement on hitting both fleeing enemies and grouped up enemies. Shrink Ray can be nice for targeting out one of the stronger damage dealers on the enemy team and Purging Mark has amazing base destruction potential. Sprint doesn’t seem too appealing, even a 3 second speed boost in most situations wont get you out to safety and Rewind can be cool to get your abilities back, but there’s other better options in this tier.
Level 16 Talents
Ranger (W): Increases width of Sentinel by 100%. Increases damage dealt based on distance traveled, up to a maximum of +200% damage.
Shooting Star (E): Lunar Flare deals 50% more damage and refunds all Mana if you hit an enemy Hero.
Mark of Mending (Trait): Basic Attacks against Marked targets heal for 2% maximum health.
Huntress’ Fury (Trait): Gain 40% additional Attack Speed for 4 seconds when using Hunter’s Mark.
This one can be a toss up, if we have a healer on the team I like to get Shooting Star, it deals more damage as you’re stunning the enemy and when you hit them you use no mana on the spell. If there is no healer Mark of Mending is awesome for helping your team get a little more hp back on focusing a target. Ranger can double your scouting potential but it’s not really needed that much and Huntress’ Fury is a good steroid for yourself, but often times you’re wanting to boost your team more than your own damage.
Level 20 Talents
Celestial Wrath (R): Starfall can now be cast globally. Damage is increased by 30%.
Hunter’s Prey (R): When using Shadowstalk, you and allied Heroes gain 25% additional Movement Speed for 8 seconds, and your next Basic Attack deals 100% more damage.
Fury of the Storm: Basic Attacks bounce twice to nearby enemies for 50% damage.
Storm Shield: Activate to give all nearby allied Heroes a Shield for 20% of their max Health for 3 seconds.
Bolt of the Storm: Activate to teleport to a nearby location.
Celestial Wrath can be a big power boost to help your team when you’re on your way to a team and not quite there yet, just as Hunter’s Prey can also help turn the tide causing a little confusion with a few bigger hits. If you prefer not to beef up your Heroic Storm Shield can be nice to shield your allies or Fury of the Storm to beef up your auto attacks. Bolt of the Storm can be good for escaping but doesn’t seem as strong as other talents in this tier.
My Preferred Talent List
- Pierce – It provides a huge amount of scouting potential on seeing where the enemy is, the move alone does a lot but if it hits someone before it gets to where you want to see, then you don’t get to see that area.
- Healing Ward – Costs no mana and does a huge amount of healing during team fights.
- Trueshot Aura – The amount of damage boost it gives to you and your allies is a power house for any team fight.
- Starfall – Generally during most team fights it can be a good breaking point, when they’re chasing and grouped up can help deter them, or when they’re at there base, it can hurt them over the walls.
- Lunar Blaze – I’m a huge fan of the ability, the stun and damage can help turn the tide of any fight, this talent beefs it up to where it’s hard to miss the ability.
- Fury of the Storm – I love the AOE damage it provides to your auto attacks and i’m a firm believer that if you’re not attacking something, you’re doing something wrong. Though if you want to be more supportive then Storm Shield would work out better.
Tyrande is a ranged support that has a lot of tools to help your team and annoy the enemy. You’re going to want to play a little passively in the sense that you want to hide behind your allies, throwing out your heal when you can and trying to stun the enemy allowing your team to clean up. Use your Sentinel to scout out objectives and figure out what the enemy is doing and applying your hunter’s mark to the main target during team fights and your team is well on the way to winning.
Tyrande is a huge boost to any team with her stuns, heals, and scouting potential. She is squishy and shouldn’t be in the front line, but don’t stop auto attacking and being annoying.
