The Official UK Nintendo Store decided to give us a treat today by starting preorders on the upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC titled “The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 – AOC Pack – Digital Download”. It also includes an interesting screenshot that shows a things you’ll get in the DLC.
Aside from Link trading in his horse Epona for a similarly colored street-bike with way more ponies, you’ll also see that an F-Zero and Excitebike track make their way into the new DLC. But not only does the UK Nintendo store reveal this upcoming DLC, they also reveal the release date…and the release date of the second DLC.
Mario Kart 8 Pack 1 – Released: November 2014
Pack 1 includes:
3 Characters: Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Link
Mario Kart 8 Pack 2 – Released: May 2015
Pack 2 includes:
3 Characters: Villager, Isabelle, Dry Bowser
As a bonus for purchasing both packs – as a bundle or separately – you can get eight different-coloured Yoshis and eight different-coloured Shy Guys that can be used right away.
The second DLC scheduled for May 2015 looks to be an Animal Crossing themed one with the inclusion of Villager (also making an appearance in the next Smash Bros. game) and Isabelle.
This DLC leak hints towards Nintendo’s plan to incorporate even more of their franchises into the Mario Kart series. They are bringing back classic games like F-Zero and Excitebike as a new tracks and characters from across the Nintendo spectrum. We might want to check out the Smash Bros. roster for possible future DLC racers.
