No one may have imagined that Minecraft would step onto the consoles, if you were an early adopter of the PC version. Three and a half years later, the console versions have screamed by PC unit sales.
Mojang Data Analyst Patrick Geuder took to Twitter today to announce two major steps for the digital block builder, announcing total sales figures and the console mastery in one feel swoop.
Minecraft console editions together just passed Minecraft for PC/Mac. And across all platforms we've sold almost 54 million copies.

Beginning with the Xbox 360, over a year and a half into Minecraft’s rampant charge into our lives, Minecraft has made its way to many consoles; PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PS3, Android, iOS, and more. PC and Mac sales figures have a tough road ahead, as Mincraft is slated to hit the Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita platforms this year, and certainly has a long way to go before it reaches the peak of success on consoles. With expanded world sizes and a breadth of new content coming to the title with every update, it’s no surprise to see that Minecraft is still growing – the only question that remains is, when will it stop?
