By Book, Blade, and Crest of Flame, the new Super Smash Brothers title will include characters from Fire Emblem, as well as an old favorite.

Long-winded in the series of Smash, Captain Falcon was officially introduced in the latest reveal trailer for two characters from Fire Emblem hitting the Smash Brothers stage. On display in the view above, Lucina, Chrom and Robin are showcased for in-game action, but Chrom will only play a supporting role in the action, as Lucina and Robin will be the only players available at launch. Lucina, Chrom’s daughter plays a key role in the Fire Emblem series as she returns from the future for combat with Chrom’s sword in hand. Wielding the Parallel Falchion in her hands, her combat with Captain Falcon in this trailer showcases both her agility and power in the Smash series.

Robin, shown sporting a tome from the series will be playable both as a male character, and the much earlier female version from within the series. His/her style doesn’t appear to be varied, and it is assumed that Robin will be a character skin choice, rather than two entirely different characters. Robin is built as a ranged option focusing on spells, which may relate to a weaker character in terms of how much damage he can receive before being tossed from the ring. Robin is the avatar of the Fire Emblem series, and spends much of his time in-game with Chrom, so we might expect Chrom to be working with both of these characters, but Chrom was only shown working with Robin in the video.

Along side this announcement, a Rayman trophy will be available in the new Smash Brothers, leaving speculation for a fourth character in 24 hours to have hit the web. Nintendo has not confirmed Rayman’s appearance, but they did talk about Ubisoft’s contribution toward the Smash Brothers trophy.

“In order to make Rayman’s trophy, we asked Ubisoft to share their references. We were expecting to receive 2D drawing references for Rayman, but to our surprise, they sent us data of a brand new 3D model that they rendered for this game!! And that was how this trophy was created. It takes a lot of work creating each model, so it’s wonderful that the creators contributed their own efforts!!”

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U releases on 10/4/2014 and “Holiday 2014” respectively. For more information on characters available for the new Smash Brothers title, check out the official website and keep it posted to PowerLeveled.
