A post today on the Total War Forums by Total War: Rome II developer Creative Assembly will have fans of the series reasonably thrilled. CraigTW of CA announced a 3 faction playable DLC pack due in October, as well one FREE Faction DLC available at the same time. The Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack will feature the Royal Scythians, Roxolani and Massagetae, with a price not yet announced. However, many fans of Rome: Total War will be excited to hear that the Seleucid Empire will be returning as a free playable faction.
Already announced is the Greek Culture Pack that is included for free with all preorders of Rome II, and a free faction DLC that includes Pontus. The Creative Assembly is also excited to announce their massive modding support, featuring in excess of 500 mods for Total War: Shogun 2, and the community should expect nothing less with this release. The Creative Assembly has also pledged to release periodic updates for the game to improve the AI, any compatibility issues, balancing and more.
If you’ve never played the Total War series and were interested in playing before Rome II drops on September 3rd, Steam is currently running a sale on previous titles. The Total War Master Collection includes 8 items, and features Rome: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, Empire: Total War, Napoleon: Total War, Shogun 2: Total War, Shogun 2 – Fall of the Samurai, Total War Battles: Shogun, and Viking: Battle for Asgard and costs just $22.49.
The Total War Grand Master Collection includes all of the items in the Master Collection, as well as Shogun 2 campaign Rise of the Samurai, and DLC for Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 for a total of 28 items, and a price tag of $82.49. Today we’re announcing our post-launch support plans for Total War: ROME II, and the good news for you is that it involves free stuff, as well as a wide array of high-quality paid-for DLC content with additional bonus features.
Alongside paid-for DLC, we’re planning to support players with regular free content and feature updates.

While the Greek States Culture Pack DLC and free Pontus playable faction update will arrive day one; by October, you’ll also be able to add the Seleucid Empire http://wiki.totalwar.com/w/Factions to your playable faction roster for free and the Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack featuring the Royal Scythians, Roxolani and Massagetae as paid-DLC.
That’s a whole faction! For free! On top of Pontus!
