Using the official YouTube application on your Xbox One, users may soon upload their video clips from the console directly to the world’s most popular video service.

Capturing footage of your game play on the Xbox One has been a feature for some time – allowing you to upload your videos to the cloud and share them on Microsoft’s Skydrive. As of April 8th, 2014, you may now upload your edited videos directly to YouTube through the official application. This addition makes the upload to YouTube process significantly faster than previously on offer – downloading from SkyDrive then manually uploading with your PC. Sharing videos to Facebook, Twitter and other available social networks will not change with this update.

With the new update, the YouTube app will allow users to watch videos in “snap mode”, let users pin YouTube videos to the dashboard, add Media Achievements, and add YouTube Channels to your OneGuide. This deep YouTube integration with the Xbox platform is a great step forward as archiving on the PlayStation 4 is impossible with Twitch.TV, disallowing for archiving on both the Xbox One and PS4 systems. Making the process of sharing your greatest moments on Xbox One easier, Sony now stands a few steps further back in the world of social media sharing.
