After years of video calling competitors cutting into the market share of Skype, video conferencing with multiple users is now free on the Microsoft Skype service.

Given years to compete and thrive in the free market, services like Google Hangouts have taken the reins in video conferencing as the go-to service with fair video quality and a fair cost – free. Compared directly with Skype’s former cost of $8.99 per month, or $4.99 for a single day, video conferences with Skype didn’t make much sense for anyone who was not running a business with a daily need for video calls. With a new pricing change now in effect, Microsoft is looking to drive users of its popular voice calling service to move forward on the PC, Mac and Xbox One.

Skype video calling supports up to 10 simultaneous users and is available for free as of today. Download Skype over at the official website.
