Developed by the team behind Mortal Kombat, WWE Immortals will marry the world of sports entertainment with a storied fighting game genre in 2015. Available on Android and iOS as a free-to-play title, WWE Immortals will feature epic Superstar battles in a new and re-imagined world of WWE. With the experience of creating Mortal Kombat, as well as stretching in the DC Universe with Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm Studios has yet to miss the mark as they reach toward their greatest challenge yet.
Notorious for their ability to revolutionize on consoles, NetherRealm will take their heavy fighting style to the mobile platform for the first time with the WWE and are ready to live up to the WWE’s grueling standard.
“It’s amazing to be working with WWE to offer a new way for fans to experience the brand on mobile platforms. NetherRealm Studios are experts in creating award-winning games and the team is working hard to deliver the same quality of engaging gameplay with WWE Immortals.” – Greg Ballard, Senior Vice President, Mobile, Social and Emerging Platforms, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Of course the WWE knows what they are getting into when working with one of the industry’s biggest and best development teams in the fighting genre. According to the WWE’s Executive Vice President of Consumer Products, the partnership is built on NetherRealms’ prestige.
“We are excited to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios to create WWE Immortals and bring a new action-packed mobile experience to our passionate fan base. By tapping into NetherRealm’s legendary game development studio along with the unparalleled reach of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we are creating a new way for fans to engage with the larger-than-life WWE characters.”
Additional details on the game’s features and Superstars available will be announced as the launch approaches next year.
