The word is out and invitations have been sent. Game Informer, and other various news outlets, reported about invitations being sent out for Microsoft’s big reveal event slated for May 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM. This was quickly backed up by a blog post by Major Nelson goes as follows:
“On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada.
On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.
We are thrilled to pull back the curtain and reveal what we’ve been working on.” – Major Nelson
Many of us will be watching as Microsoft reveals their vision of the future for not just console gaming, but all home entertainment and how they will connect with you. This will be the first truly official event regarding the next generation of the Xbox and will hopefully give us a clearer picture along with answering questions about the “always-on” feature. Judging from the graphics on the invitations, the Xbox.com webpage, and rumors from the past; they may actually be be sticking with the working name of simply “Xbox”. Also, if you check out the Xbox.com page in the sources below, you’ll find a neat timeline of the history of the Xbox.
