With the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition just around the corner, Blizzard is clearing up any questions the community may have in regard to their dedication to the console market versus their PC iteration.

According to Blizzard Entertainment, the “powerful new architecture” of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles enables for regularly scheduled patching of the coming Diablo title outside of the PC landscape. Ongoing patch support for Diablo III will continue after the title hits store shelves in just over a week. Blizzard is currently striving to bring the console port up to the PC’s coming patch release and keep both on the same playing field.

“When we started on this adventure, we thought we’d never be able to do updates on the console side in the same way we do with the PC. This allows us to be more responsive to our customers. Our goal is to eventually make these updates simultaneous.” – John Hight, production director on Diablo III

The coming patch, 2.1.0, will allow players to enjoy new experiences in Diablo not seen before in “Greater Rifts, Legendary Gems, new Legendary powers, and the Vault—a mysterious realm filled with untold riches, located just beyond a Treasure Goblin’s portal.”

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 19th, 2014.
