Nation, if you loved Stephen Colbert on his self-titled Comedy Central show “The Colbert Report,” you’ll be waiting a short while before he’s back on your television – just long enough to give a fond farewell to the Late Show’s current host David Letterman.
As announced by CBS today in an official press release, Colbert’s version of the late show will release on September 8th at 11:35 PM to 12:37 PM Eastern and Pacific Time in the US. The show is slated to be taped in the same location as it has always been, inside the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York. Named as Letterman’s successor back in April of last year, Colbert recently wrapped up the Report series with Comedy Central after 10 years running to take over in Letterman’s 21 year tenure.
Stephen’s official comment in the press release shows his typical character is unlikely to fall despite leaving Comedy Central, “I have nine months to make a show, just like a baby. So first, I should find out how you make a baby.”
