Despite the rocky road that Microsoft has taken in the post Windows 8 era, the company is very confident in their coming product, Windows 10, claiming the OS as the best ever for PC gaming.

With a coming Windows 10 showcase on January 21st, Xbox lead Phil Spencer has taken the helm in calling out the Windows platform as the best available for PC gamers – better than Linux or OSX.

“I’m excited to be talking on January 21st. We have speakers coming up talking about Windows 10 and the great work that we’re doing there.

“For the Xbox team this is the beginning of our discussion with fans about the work that we’re doing to bring gaming to the Windows 10 operating system. It’s really nice to finally be able to talk about this. We’ll continue the conversation throughout the year.

“We remain committed to gaming on console but we know that we have fans and gamers who also play on PC and phone and it’s important that we build out the features that we have, learning from what we’ve done on console and helping making Windows 10 the best operating system we’ve ever created for gamers on PCs.”

Just a few days away from the actual Windows 10 press conference, what does this mean for gaming on Windows PCs? Likely, not much. With the stronghold that is Steam, gaming’s prominent platform doesn’t rely on what operating system you play on so much as how you choose to play. Odds are, we could be looking at the rehashing of the “Games with Windows LIVE” experience as an Xbox LIVE on Windows experience – but that’s just our guess.
